This is not a standard beer
this is the best boutique style of gluten free we have tasted, and fits a classic style of an American Pale Ale with grape fruit and pear tones initially dry on the palate it leaves a pleasant light sweetness, the international and local hops provide a huge nose that has distinct floral and mild spice finish.This beer is inspired by our success at the Australian International beer awards last year in Melbourne with our 4 Hop ale. If you like a distinctive Ale second to none this will not disappoint the fact that is gluten free is really now secondary.

Again we are very pleased with the following results from the Perth Royal Show to add to our Sydney wins
Silver for Billabong Pale ale, Porter and Dark Wheat. The Dark wheat was awarded the David Cryer "Best In Show" for dark wheat beers.
Bronze for Billabong 4 Hop Ale, Bavarian Wheat.

We at Billabong are over the moon to be awarded a Silver for our 4 Hop Ale, a Bronze for the Pale Ale and a Bronze for the Porter at the Sydney Royal today.

Billabong launches Gluten Free Beers at the Wa Coeliac society AGM at Challenge Stadium in suburban Perth.
At the conclusion of the AGM, society members were treated to free samples of Billabongs Blonde (a pale lager style-4.5%)Ginger Beer( a sweet soft drink style beer -4.5%) and a super dry Apple Beer(5%) complimented by gluten free muffins and a range of other food samples.
Billabong Director Alan Proctor, explained that the existing beer styles, the first Gluten free Beers (GFB)to be produced in WA, are to be the forerunners to further styles currently under development. All GFB are subject to stringent controls ensure no cross contamination with conventional brewing ingredients can occur. The beers are all made from base ingredients that are gluten free and the process is backed up by independent laboratory testing. Each certified GFB carries the Australian Coeliac Society logo as support to our procedures and controls and to help the consumer to have faith in these beers.
Mr Proctor took the opportunity to thank the Wa Department of Agriculture and Food for their part in the development of these products and the Wa Coeliac Society, in particular Ms Necole Rowe, who has been most supportive both in the development of the concept and the introduction of the beer to people with Coeliac disease.

Billabong has been brewing beer since 1993, and was the original pioneer of the Brew On Premise system in Australia. Recently we have acquired a “Producer’s License” allowing us to produce and sell our range of handcrafted beers. More interestingly for some, we have developed over two years, three beers that are not only great tasting for all to drink, but are suitable for Coeliac sufferers as they are certified Gluten Free. We intend to expand all our range of beers but in particular we are developing more in the range of Gluten Free beers to include full on Ales and Lager styles. We have had support from the Coeliac Society of WA Perth as well as the Coeliac Society of Australia and regularly advertise in the SillyYak Newsletter and Silly Yak Magazine.
